About the Parish Council

What does a parish council do? To be honest it doesn't have much power but when we team up with our local council and county councillors we can achieve a lot. Here is our list of local wins, all done with keeping the cost to the villagers to the minimum. We can't always get it right and we know that, but would love to hear about what is needed; it might not be in our remit but we will do our best!

a) Got Hampshire Highways to install two crossings on B3349

b) Restored and replaced traditional fencing around cemetery

c) Created and maintained a path from School Lane to the New Inn

d) Ensured as many footpaths as we know about are protected / remain open

e) Constantly fight Hampshire Highways to reduce and enforce speed limits

f) Escalated and continue to highlight the car drifting at Wellington Country Park

g) Negotiated permissive footpaths with land owners

h) Worked with the Village Hall trustees to drastically improve its condition and restored a cottage creating rental income for the hall to improve further

i) Arranged volunteer days to clean up / tidy up
